MBABANE – He is one of the oldest artists in the country and will be celebrating the 50 years of Independence and His Majesty King Mswati III’s birthday with an album.

Local Mbhaqanga artist Mshikishi Mdzebele is working on releasing his ninth album which has songs honouring the country and the King for turning 50 this year.
Mshikishi said the album would be ready at the end of March as his intention was to have the album released in April, during the double celebrations.
This album comes after Mshikishi’s very successful eighth album titled ‘Overtime’. The album contains the hit song titled ‘Monarchial Democracy’, and it was the artist’s first album to make it to the SBIS and Ligwalagwala Top 20 charts.

Mndzebele’s song, which has lyrics talking about the beauty of the country’s governing system ‘Tinkhunda’, received a lot of attention in South Africa radio stations. It is the same song that made Mshikishi sell over 5 000 copies for the first time.
“ I have since realised that songs that have meaning to the country and myself are best .

That is why even now I have focused on the 50/50 celebrations and I hope it will be received well,” said Mshikishi.  The new album will be recorded at STM Studio in Durban and he is expected to spend E14 000 for the recording.

He has already booked the studio and the recording is scheduled in two weeks time.
“I am currently preparing for the recording of my new album. I have been working hard to make sure I produce the album which will reflect my experience in the music industry,” he said.
He thanked all those who have supported him in all the years, adding that he still needs more support.
