MBABANE – A chance to win E1 million for His Majesty’s Correctional Services Choir has been lost.

While many were hoping that the choir would represent the country in the Melting Pot Festival, a decision not to attend the festival has since been taken.

The choir, conducted by Melisizwe Zwane was expected to compete in the ‘giants of the Game’ category during the festival scheduled for November 25 in the Eastern Cape. The choral giants had been included for the first time in this massive competition after the Melting Pot organisers were impressed with their performances as guests in 2016.

At stake for the festival is a sum of E1 million which the choir was expected to compete for.
One of the reasons that made the choir to take a decision of not attending the festival was the cost it comes with. Their choir needed a sum of at least E100 000 to attend the event. This included travel , accommodation and administration fees.

During discussions, the choir had to decide between two festivals, these  being the Melting Pot and the Old Mutual Choral Music Festival.
During the meeting, it was decided that the choir should drop the Melting Pot Festival invitation and prepare for the Old Mutual Festival, scheduled for December 9-10.
