MANZINI – Christians wants nothing but to see the Voice of the Church (VOC) surviving and also becoming one of the best Christian radio stations in Africa.

They also want the station to make sure that everyone in the world is able to listen to the good news.
The station, under the leadership of Zakharia Mthethwa, held a fundraising dinner at Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre on Friday night.
The purpose of the fund-raising dinner was to raise at least E500 000 towards purchasing seven transmitters which will allow them to have a second channel.
Currently, the radio station is known of broadcasting only in siS wati.
The siSwati Channel is known as VOC 1.

The station will soon be having two channels with the second one known as VOC 2. This channel will be broadcasting in English and this broadcast should be launched by November.
Over 300 Christians came to assist the station as it strived to reach its goal.
By 6pm, the venue was set and the only thing that was left was for the guests to arrive.
They started arriving at around 7pm and were welcomed by the ushers who made sure they were seated comfortably.

Popular station announcer Zodwa Tfwala made sure that she kept the guest entertained throughout. Just from the begining, she cracked jokes as she welcomed the guests to the event.
Some of the important guests who attended the dinner included Bishop Nash Shongwe, Senator Ndumiso Mdluli, Prophet Silindza and Reverend Shodi Msibi.
Also a guest at the event was Sipho Mseleku, the Global Business Round Table Convener/ Founder from South Africa who was the guest speaker.
Explaining the purpose of the dinner, Mtsetfwa said they believed VOC had played a major role in changing people’s lives thanking all those who have contributed towards achieving this goal.

The station’s national director said had it not been for the support of the churches, pastors and companies, the mandate of the station would not have been achieved.
He said for him, it was an achievement that would last to a number of people’s lives.
He said as they were looking at another strategy they would use to win more souls, they thought adding an English channel would be the right thing.
“Time has come for this Christian radio station to grow to a second channel,” said the station’s national director.
