EZULWINI - It was expected to be the biggest event this weekend, with outfits on fleek and appreciated artists and indeed it happened according to plan.

Soul music artist Sandziso ‘Sands’ Matsebula walked away from the event  happily  singing his famous song ‘Tigi’, as he scooped four MTN SWAMA  Awards.

Actually, according to the audience who were chanting Sands name throughout, no other artist could have won the night’s popular award and that is the MTN Song of the Year Award except for him.
The artist was among the favourites on the night as he was nominated in six categories.
Out of the six categories, he took home four and these being the MTN Song of the Year Award, Soul Artist, Male Artist and the Artist of the Year .

Indeed music lovers who filled the Royal Swazi Spa Convention Centre, were not disappointed as they got what they were expecting but those at home did not get to experience this prestigious event live, as Swazi TV did not air the event live.

Watching Sands scooping the major awards was the Deputy Prime Minister Paul Dlamini, Minister of Tourism Christopher Gamedze and MTN Swaziland’s Chief executive Officer (CEO) Ambrose Dlamini.

Most  of the fans were happy with the results as they felt all the artists who won on the night deserved to be the eventual winners.
While Sands became the overall winner, also winning big was gospel artist Nothando Hlophe and Mbaqanga music legend Mshikishi Mndzebele.

Both Hlophe and Mndzebele walked home smiling with two awards each. Nothando scooped the MTN Best Gospel Artist and MTN Best Female artist awards while Mndzebele took home MTN Best Traditional Award. Hlophe was, however, not there to accept her award on the night.
