MBABANE - It’s all systems go! The yellow carpet is ready and the inaugural MTN SWAMA awards have amassed a total of 30 000 votes since the day the voting lines were opened.

The number of SMSes on the last day of voting alone were 7 000, while 23 000 votes were cast in  the month of July alone.
This was confirmed by the awards Chairman Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini.
This was during the last press conference held yesterday morning at Royal Swazi Hotel.

During the conference the trophies that will be awarded to the winners of the various categories were unveiled.
The trophies had the MTN logo and an elaborate design. They are also inscribed with the category names.

Present at the conference was MTN’s Meshack Shongwe who said as MTN they were surprised by the number of votes they were able to receive through SMSes. He added that they were excited about the final show slated for tomorrow.
The schedule for the awards was also revealed and the organisers emphasised that arrivals would strictly be from 5pm to 7pm when the awards show is set to start.

SWAMA President Lutfo Dlamini urged people to arrive on time as the programme would start exactly at the time that has been set.
He further said that due to the holding capacity of the Royal Swazi Convention Centre not everyone that would have liked to attend the awards would be able to, as at the time of the press conference there were already very few tickets left.

“We have ensured that Swazi TV broadcasts live so that even if you are not there physically, you do not miss out on the experience,” said Dlamini.

It was further revealed that nominees would be chauffeured by the BMW club and would enter in style.
Malangeni Dlamini Chairman of the BMW Club called Club E46 said that they were pleased to sponsor the awards with cars they specialised in and these being German cars.

Very distinguished guests will be present at the awards show but these guests were not revealed.
The public was further warned that there would be no tickets sold at the venue tomorrow.
