FAN STEALS LIMELIGHT AT MTN JOYOUS 21 SHOW
MANZINI - She had come to watch MTN Joyous Celebration and only afforded a general ticket.
She never knew she would steal the show with her amazing vocals , having the over 5 000 gospel lovers backing her.
Promise Mlangeni shocked everyone who attended the show as she sang until she cried winning the hearts of the audience.
MTN Joyous Celebration had just finished performing its first set and the choir was taking a break. The audience was then given a chance of showcasing its talent by singing. One of the choir crew walked with a microphone and mingled with the audience. Giving each fan a turn to introduce themselves and sing a note.
When the microphone reached Mlangeni’s hands, she stunned everyone including Joyous Celebration Founders Lindelani Mkhize and Jabu Hlongwane as she displayed great vocal ability.
When she started singing the choir’s song titled ‘Uyalalelwa Usomandla’, there was a bit of silence in the hall as most people seemed to be shocked by the voice that was singing. She continued singing and those seated at the back stood up and wanted to see the person where the voice was coming from. At the time other fans had already joined her in chorus as they worshipped with her and before Joyous Celebration Choir members knew it ,the young woman had the entire hall on the feet singing along.
She was allowed to sing for over five minutes and the crowd enjoyed being led by her.
As she continued singing, Mlangeni seemed not to believe the huge backing as she wept while holding the microphone ,but her vocals remained pitch perfect.
When she finished the song, she got a standing ovation from the fans who all talked about her. Most of the people described Mlangeni as one of the best singers in the country. Among those who were impressed besides the Joyous Celebration choir and its founders was Sipho ‘Big Fish’ Makhabane.
“I must get that woman’s contact details , that is a star just waiting to be recorded in studio,” said Makhabane.
Mlangeni only said she was excited and that was one of the reasons why she cried. She said she could not believe it when the whole house joined her, making her the star of the night.
“I just do not know what to say, I am shocked about what happened and up to now, I still feel, I am not myself,” she said while visible shaking in excitement.
Others who attended the show mentioned that Mlangeni deserved to be one of the country’s recorded artists.
