MATSAPHA – Government is now recognising music as a profession.

Aspiring musicians and sound engineers have been offered fully paid scholarships.
Thanks to the government headed by the Prime Minister Sibusiso Dlamini.

Assuring aspiring musicians about the scholarships was Busisiwe Simelane, Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture (SNCAC) Board  Chairperson. She  said government had noted that Swazis have a lot of talent saying it was important that it be used accordingly.
“After realising the talent the Swazis have, government thought it was proper to invest in arts and that is what has happened. scholarships are now available for all aspiring musicians,” she said.

Simelane said government’s offer, should be taken and used accordingly.
In the past very few people were interested in music but we now have a large number of people who have the love of music.
“As the SNCAC, it is our responsibility to see to it that they are given opportunities as well.

“The opportunity is here so let us all use it,” she said.
Simelane also reminded artists that they have the board support in everything they do.
“At times artists might not see that we are behind them. All they should know is that we are in support of them and we wish that they become the best in whatever they do.

“Seeing them becoming the best in the industry is something that we always appreciate,” she said. Sharing the same sentiments with the Board Chairperson was  SNCAC CEO Stanley Dlamini who urged the aspiring artists to take the offer given to them by government.
