MATSAPHA – He was the crowd’s favourite and he eventually became the winner and this made most people feel that the judges had made the right choice.

Domestic Environment student Dominic Tembe was on Friday night crowned as the University of Swaziland’s Beauty King.  Before being crowned as Mr UNISWA, he was crowned as the freshest of them all during the Mbabane Fresher’s Ball.

This occurred on Friday night during the Mr and Miss  UNISWA’s Beauty pageant held at the MPH Hall. From the beginning, Tembe had his own followers who screamed and clapped hands each time he paraded. Being crowned Miss UNISWA was Bongiwe Dlamini who was contestant number four.

While Tembe had no competition at all, it seemed to be tight for Dlamini as all the six students who participated were confident and came with one intention, to win.
The Mr UNISWA pageant saw only seven students taking part. The pageant was a late starter as it started just after 10pm.
Despite the fact that it started late, the audience was keen to see the winners of the night.

As the contestants walked on the ramp the audience would make their own choice while leaving the final selection to be done by the judges. The contestants first walked on the ramp in groups, first dressed in casual wear and later coming in one by one in their formal attire.  As they walked on stage, the judges would score points for each and every one so they could be in a position of coming up with the winner.

Confidence

The points were based on the ramp walk, poise and confidence displayed by the contestant. The contestants were then asked to introduce themselves before taking their last walk in front of the judging panel.
It was clearly not an easy task for the judges to pick the final winner, as they spent over 15 minutes deliberating.
