MATSAPHA – Imagine a scenario where you’re deep at turning up and making bad decisions then all of a sudden the next thing you know you’re taken back to church.

This was the case on Friday night during DJ Zoe’s birthday party themed ‘Denim to Denim’. The night that started off steadily with only a few people at the venue which ended up being a blissful night as Déjà Vu Cocktail bar was packed with over 200 people who had come to celebrate with the lady DJ.

This comes after she celebrated her birthday party at News Cafe in Nelspruit with the same theme ‘Denim to Denim’ where she invited her lady DJ friends to perform on the night.
With Trevor Dee from South Africa who is a good friend to DJ Zoe behind the turn tables the crowd got warmed up and started getting comfortable with dancing with their friends on  the dance floor while the DJ stirred up some good music. However, the DJ who was celebrating her special day, Zoe, real name Zodwa Matsebula did not perform on the night but watched and danced away to her acquaintances performances.

South African DJ, Sergio Taylor shocked many fun lovers with his selection of music as he would now and again drop gospel medleys during his set. The famous gospel songs ‘Oh Msindisi,’ and  ‘Lion of Judah’  made the crowd sing along while dancing on the dance floor, however 20 minutes into his ‘rather unusual’ club Dj set, a handful of fun lovers were already complaining that he was killing their vibe with the ‘church’ music.

“We are here to forget about our problems and have a good time and we don’t mind being reminded about church every now and then, but this is not the time and the place for that,” said one unidentified fun lover.
Upon hearing their queries the DJ then immediately changed his set and got back to what fun lovers regarded as ‘good time’ music. Because it was DJ Zoe’s birthday celebration, the lady DJ who first came into the scene back in the day of Swaziboy Entertainment’s debut to the industry was titled one of the first ladies in the deejaying world locally.

Thuli Phongolo better known by her on screen name as Namhla Diale from Generations Legacy took on the turn tables and caused club frenzy with her electrifying sounds. It was the first time that a lot of people learnt of her new venture which is deejaying and they seemed impressed with her set.
“I knew of Zoe through her brother and my mother before we met. We later hooked-up for lunch due to my DJ interest and we clicked instantly. The fact that she’s real, loving and positive is the energy that pushed us to become really close.
