MBABANE – Renowned  South African and international actor Sello Maake Ka Ncube will hopefully take his more than 40-year theatre experience and expertise to the south of the country.
The veteran actor is eager to give an opportunity to those outside Manzini and Mbabane.

This is in line with the strategy of the Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture SNCAC, to take the arts to all four regions of Swaziland.
It will also speak to the goals of the Regional Administrator of Shiselweni, Themba Masuku, of promoting the Shiselweni region.

Workshop

The two-day workshop is set to take place on April 25 - 26.
Commenting on this, Macford Sibandze, Director of Gmac, the  company hosting Sello in the country, said though the actor  will have a hectic schedule in the country, he will make sure that he goes to Shiselweni even if it’s no longer a workshop but  to address drama students at Ngwane College and other aspirants in the region.

Sibandze believes that the aspirants will be highly motivated and inspired to be addressed by an icon who is not only an actor of note but someone with academic accolades in the arts such as a Master’s Degree.
Sibandze said they will also have another workshop at UNISWA that will cater for aspirants in the other three regions. Sibandze is hoping that the RA for Shiselweni Masuku, REO and SNCAC CEO Stanley Dlamini will also be present.

Interested

Sibandze said part of the topics covered will be acting agencies in South Africa, where Ncube will assist with good agencies for those interested in acting there, as South Africa has opened its doors for everyone in Africa.
Sibandze made an example of Amanda Du Pont, that although she is a foreigner in South Africa she is a main character in highly followed South African soapie and hosts a number of shows on TV.

This according to Ncube shows  that the gates are now opened wide in SA and all one needs is to  know the right channels to take.
“Amanda has shown us that Swazis can act anywhere in the world. After the news about Sello coming to Swaziland, I have been receiving a lot of calls about the show and workshops.
‘‘So this is a huge  chance for  aspiring Swazi actors and actresses,” added Sibandze.

Confirmed

Ncube will be in the country on dates to be confirmed to stage a play, House of Truth, about Can Themba,  a journalist and teacher who fled South Africa to become a teacher at SCOT and Salesian High School.
