IT’S E200 000 FOR SCHOOLS CULTURE COMPETITION

MANZINI – Macmillan Swaziland has brought smiles to pupils especially those involved in culture as they have pumped in a sum of E200 000 towards this year’s schools culture competition.


The Matsapha based company announced the whooping sponsorship during the launch of the competition known as the Macmillan Schools Culture competition, held at the George Hotel on Wednesday night.


During the competition, pupils will compete in various activities which include drum majorettes, ummiso, sibhaca, drama and poetry.
This year’s sponsorship has seen an increase of E50 000 from that of last year, as the company had contributed a sum of E150 000.
The sponsorship was announced in front of the Deputy Prime Minister Paul Dlamini and the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David Cruiser Ngcamphalala.


Also present was the Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture (SNCAC) Board Chairperson Busisiwe Simelane, who is Macmillan Swaziland’s Managing Director and SNCAC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Stanley Dlamini.
Unveiling the sponsorship was Gcinaphi Sikhondze, who represented Macmillan Swaziland, she said they are proud to be the main sponsors of the culture competition even this year.


She also said the company in support of culture and it was one of the reasons why they felt they should continue supporting this event.
“We are happy to see that the competition is growing, with more schools participating. The pupils get to understand what culture is, which we are happy about. She said they will continue supporting this initiative as long as it continues to serve the interests of arts and culture in the country.
