DR MALINGA SPICES UP INTERNATIONAL CONDOM DAY
MATSAPHA - It is quite obvious that when one wants to send a clear message to the masses, he should do it in a way that won’t be forgettable.
This proved to be true on Saturday as over 400 people attended the International Condom Day show. Fun lovers were treated to a fun filled day as they walked away with prizes in the form of T-shirts, caps and condoms.
There were different stalls that were set up at the Esibayeni Lodge from as early as 2pm where revellers would be given information on certain topics pertaining condoms and HIV/AIDS.
The event was a celebration of the International Condom Day. On the day, South African artist Dr Malinga, together with local stars Sands, Nomalungelo, Lyrikal Busta, Pelepele and DJs Wicked, Crooks, MBO, Di Dang, Fantacy and 1D entertained fun lovers.
Around 4pm in the afternoon, personalities from the all-female soccer team ‘All Star Ladies’ walked down the ramp carrying different kinds of condoms as they were dressed in different designer labels but mostly branded T-shirts from AHF.
The show which started at 2pm in the afternoon went on up until around 3am in the morning as there were a lot of performances on the night.
The International Condom Day was promoted by the AHF in an effort to reduce the spread of HIV through safe sex practices. Since its inception in 2009, it has been an informal observance celebrated in conjunction with Valentine’s Day. The International Condom Day, is usually an annual February holiday observed in conjuction with Valentine’s Day.
It seeks to promote the prevention of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STI’s) and unwanted pregnancies through free distribution of condoms.
