MBABANE – The local gospel music industry is faced with a dark cloud as the year begins, following the demise of gospel singer Angel Gama.

Gama was the backup singer for gospel group Ncamiso & The Glory Impact, who recently won the Best Praise Category at the 2016 Gospel Music Awards.  The vocalist passed away last Thursday after a short illness.
The artist, who also played a role in the formation of the group, was rushed to the Mbabane Government Hospital after she had informed her relatives that she was not well.

On arrival at the hospital, the doctors tried everything they could to try and save her but she passed away while undergoing treatment.  Ncamiso Mavimbela, the leader of the group, confirmed Gama’s death and added that he was informed last Friday.

“I am still too shocked about what happened. She never informed any of us that she was not feeling well. Her death was just so sudden,” he lamented.
Mavimbela said she passed on when the group was still working on a strategy for the year 2017, aimed at seeing to it that the group becomes one of the best in the country, especially after winning an award at the 2016 Gospel Music Awards.

“Winning an award at the Swaziland Gospel Awards was one of the things she had worked hard for and she passed on at a time when she was still celebrating the award. It is painful for us as a group as we have lost a key player in the group,” he said.
He said he had already informed the Association of Christian Artists in Swaziland (ACASWA) about what happened.
“I send my condolences to her family, relatives and friends and pray that God be with them at this trying time,” he added.
Mavimbela said he was still waiting for her family to inform him about her funeral arrangements, which they would relay to their fans.
