SITEKI – Miss Swaziland Linda Hutchinson, played Santa Claus when she delivered belated Christmas gifts to sickly children who are currently admitted at Good Shepherd Hospital in Siteki.

Despite that Christmas has passed, the children were overwhelmed with joy upon receiving the gifts from the beauty queen, owing to that most of them missed Christmas due to hospitalisation.
Accompanied by a family member, the beauty queen, who is also a student at the University of Swaziland (UNISWA), handed over toys and books to the children.

In a brief address, Hutchinson stated that she saw it important to share the little that she can afford with the children.
She said the books contain short stories which the children would find interesting, adding that the toys will also keep the children entertained during their stay at the hospital.

In an interview later, Hutchinson explained that the donation was the genesis of a charity programme she will embark on during the course of her reign.
“It was the first donation but I will be visiting other places this year,” she said, in a soft tone. She revealed that all the items she donated are worth E1 200.

She further mentioned that some of the funds that were used for purchasing the items were donated to her by friends.
