CAROLEE, THANDIWE IN TOP 10 OF AFRICA’S TOP MODEL 2016

MBABANE – Swazi custom made evening wear stole the show at the Top Models Competition when Coralee Vilakati and Thandiwe Dlamini secured their spots as part of the top 10 finalists.

The two models are representing Swaziland in the modelling competition and successfully outshone 35 other models to make it into the top 10, as their lively bodies draped in the Swazi flag national colours, sashayed down the ramp winning the judges over.
The competition which is being held in Zimbabwe officially started on Friday July 22, when 45 models from countries including Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Namibia, Ethiopia, South Africa and Rwanda took to the ramp to impress the judges.

Finalists

According to Dlamini they spent the weekend settling down in Zimbabwe and of course showing their profiles to the judges.
It was on Monday July 25, 2016 that the judges announced the top 10 finalists which saw both Swazi models making it through.
The final cut is expected to be made before the end of the week, when Africa’s top model will be announced.

During the Top 10 judging, the models were dressed in elegant ethnic garments made in Swaziland with the touches of the Swazi flag. Dlamini said the garments also contributed to elevating them to the top 10 as it made them stand out on the ramp, catching the judges’ eyes.
“The ethnic wear didn’t only impress the judges but it also impressed the Zimbabwean local newspaper as they approached us for an interview. They were mainly interested in our outfits and this also gave us a chance to talk more about our country,” said Dlamini.
