SHONGWE AND KHUPHUKA WIN BEST TRADITIONAL GOSPEL SONG

PRETORIA– “Avumile amazulu kutsi siphumelele”. This was the statement at the Pretoria State Theatre as the country’s best group Shongwe and Khuphuka Saved Group together with the Voice of The Church Radio Station scooped two prestigious African awards.


Shongwe and Khuphuka, a group led by Reverend Elias Shongwe took home the Trumphet Africa’s Best Traditional Gospel Song.
The group won the award through its song titled ‘Amazulu Avumile’, which is currently trending in most local and South African radio stations.
VOC scooped the Trumphet Africa’s Best Gospel Radio Programme through its popular programme titled ‘Vuka Mpefumulo Wami’.


 This award was one of the commercial awards during the Trumpet Africa Gospel Music Awards held on Sunday night.
The awards that were being held for the first time are organised by Zanele Mbokazi, wife to Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule of the Word of Hope Ministries.


The awards were held at the Pretoria State Theatre and were attended by 6 000 people.
For the Trumphet Africa’s Best Traditional Gospel Song, Shongwe and Khuphuka had been nominated against Toggy Ebenezar from Zimbabwe, Enkay from Nigeria and South Africa’s fast growing gospel mass choir Worship House.


On the radio programme category, VOC competed with ‘Get Lifted’ of ZI FM from Zimbabwe, ‘Gospel Sunday’ of Milele FM in Kenya and Moment of Deliveries from the Radio Christian Voice in Zambia.
It was a precious night for the Swazis as all eyes were on the nominees, especially Shongwe and Khuphuka Saved Group which had many people backing them on the night.
