MICHAEL SCOOPS SA’S BEST LEADER AWARD

MBABANE – The development of motion picture complexities has been driven by a continuing technological evolution, ignited and manipulated by human initiative and inventiveness, which has afforded film-maker, Michael Hlatshwayo the opportunity to scoop South Africa’s Best Leader of the Year Award.


Hlatshwayo, who has previously won the Social Media Hero of the Year in Africa Award, says he has settled well in South Africa.
 “We are in a very tough industry with a lot of challenges but what is imperative is to hold your head high and put in the work,” he said.


Hlatshwayo explained that the right people were always looking and willing to work so he has been privileged enough to have aligned himself with the kind of people who have helped him reach his dreams in the motion picture industry.

“When the SA awards committee contacted me to notify me that I had been nominated in the category of SA best leader of the year, I was really surprised. I mean such massive recognition meant a lot to me. Coming from a small community showed me that your dreams should not be limited. There is still a long way to go but the nomination alone has given me assurance that I am on the right path of turning any dream I may have into a reality.” Hlatshwayo said.


He further went on to describe his moment of realising that his work was being recognised in one of Africa’s biggest industries. Hlatshwayo said after seeing the other contestants and the work they had put in, he was slightly intimidated. He says he recalls having a conversation with a close friend of his who told him that the competition looked really tough and did not think that he would take the award home.
However, through the immense support that the filmmaker got from his peers, friends and relatives and the votes he got, he was able to win the award for The Best Leader of the Year.
