Mbabane - Baby Mthimkhulu, who is a student at the University of Swaziland, has tried her luck in entering a competition that is an initiative of Boxer Superstores in South Africa.

Boxer, in association with Ponds, Shield, Dawn and Lux, was looking for the next face to grace their products. The winner will take home an amount of E20 000 and get signed by a modelling agency. The final judging event will be held in Durban.

Mthimkhulu said she was out in Nelspruit, shopping, when she decided to give the competition a try.  She had bought a combination of Ponds products at a Boxer Store and she was told that she had automatically qualified to enter for the competition.
Nandi Alexander, a Swazi who is currently the face of Lux, and the overall winner of ‘The Look’, will work hand in hand with the potential new face of these brands.

Mthimkhulu who is in the fourth position running to scoop the main prize is thrilled to have been chosen among many of the girls who had entered for the competition. She says she hopes this will be a stepping stone towards launching her modelling career.

The Look is an initiative that seeks to find young beautiful girls who would then be put into an intense training programme in branding and in the modelling industry. ‘The Look’ is an agency which helps the bigger brands search for potential brand ambassadors for their products. Models who are groomed under this agency have successfully dominated the modelling industry in South Africa and are continuously making a name for themselves.

Mthimkhulu says she is praying and hoping that she wins this competition as she would not have won it for herself, but she would have been one of those people to have lifted the Swazi flag high.

“I cannot wait for the final day where the winner will be chosen, I will be at ease, because I’m nervous now,” she said.
However, despite her nerves, she said she was determined to work towards reaching her dream of becoming an educated and successful model.
