MBABANE – Local dance group Tribal Misfits has made it into the Top 20 contestants of the first ever T55 SWAMA National Talent Search Competition.

The list was released yesterday by the T55 consultants company, Ludziwo. Tribal Misfits have made a mark for themselves with their well choreographed dance styles, which have seen them dancing for some of the country’s top musicians including hip hop star KrTC.

Also making it to the Top 50 was talented female vocalist Symphony, who proved to be a favourite among the voters as she received over 1 000 votes.

The list follows a Top 50 battle which took place three weeks ago at the Tum’s Waterworld and was followed by a public voting, where members of the public were given an opportunity to vote for their favourite contestants.

Members of the public were allowed to watch the Top 50 battle on local television Swazi TV.
The votes were then added to the scores which were made by the judges who include SBIS radio personality Bongani ‘Bobo’ Dlamini, Mangaliso Elfoe Masilela from Swazi TV and Times of Swaziland Entertainment Editor Ntombi Mhlongo.

The competition began with auditions which were conducted all over the country, with an aim of including all upcoming artists in the 55 Tinkhundla centres.

Selected

The judges then selected the Top 100 contestants who battled it out and a Top 50 was selected.
The project, which was initiated by SWAMA, is sponsored by companies such as The Times of Swaziland, REDI, Tum’s Waterworld and Nashua Swaziland to name but a few.
