MBABANE – Sipho ‘Big Fish’ Makhabane’s tribute song for the fallen Imbali regiment has caused mixed feelings among his fans.

The song, which the award winning music producer composed and released on Wednesday, is titled ‘Nikela kuJehova’.
Facebook came alive after the news that the renowned gospel artist had released a song dedicated to the accident victims.

From the over 100 comments posted in the Times Facebook page, most facebookers felt he was taking advantage of the situation and trying to make money out of the grief suffered by the Swazi nation. While others felt he was out to make money, others thought it was a great initiative likening it to songs of former South African President Nelson Mandela’s passing.

Those who were against the concept felt Makhabane would make a killing as the song would sell like hot cakes. They said they believed that he was one artist who was intelligent as a few artists would have thought about such a concept.
They questioned if he was going to donate any money to the affected families.

Other fans made it clear that they would definitely support him, adding that they could not wait to get copies of the song.
There were those who, however, were not opposed to the song but were worried about the timing and argued that he should have at least waited for some time before releasing it.

When ‘Big Fish’ was contacted on the mixed feelings among his fans yesterday, he said it was not about making money.
“I was expecting such a reaction from people. I should make it clear that this is not an album and it will not be sold. It is just a song that will only be heard on radio stations,” he said.

He said he did not blame those who thought he was out to make money, saying that was not his intention.
“I will not be making any money. The song is not for sale. The public will only have access to it when listening to the radio,” he said.
