MBABANE – It rained money for local mbhaqanga singer Mshikishi Mdzebele as he got close to E20 000 as a birthday gift.

This was during his surprise 60th birthday party held at the S and B Restaurant.
The party, which Mshikishi did not know up until the last minute, was organised by the Swaziland Arts and Music Association (SWAMA).
The association felt it should organise a party to celebrate the life of the legendary star who turned 60 years on Tuesday.

Close friends, relatives and artists got together and celebrated with Mshikishi as he got a shocking surprise when he arrived at the restaurant, when he found close friends who included Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David Cruiser Ngcamphalala and Minister of Agriculture Moses Vilakati.

Also present was Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture (SNCAC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Stanley Dlamini and businessman Victor Gamedze and Mbuso Simelane.
When Mshikishi arrived at the well prepared venue, he was shocked to find close friends gathered there.

He joined them and sat next to the minister and mentioned that he had no idea that a surprise party was being prepared for him.
SWAMA President Lutfo Dlamini took time to explain the role that Mshikishi played in making sure that SWAMA adds value to the artists and the public at large.

Dlamini then motivated the guests to shower Mshikishi with gifts including mo-ney.
First to make an offer was the minister who gave Mshikishsi a goat and E1 000.
Dlamini then announced that there was an anonymous businessman who had offered a sum of E5 000 for Mshikishi.

Celebrate

Also making an offer was Mbuso Simelane of Inhlonhla who said the fact that Mshikishi turned 60 years meant the nation should celebrate.
He then offered a sum of E6 000 to the artist.  Also presenting the artist with cash was Itallo Dlamini of Itallo Music who forked out a sum of E2 000 plus free rehearsals for the upcoming event.
