JOHANNESBURG – SwaziBank 2015 Schools Choral Music Competition’s tenor soloist champion Zweli Msibi, lifted the country’s flag high as he became the champion in the regional finals in South Africa.

Msibi, who is a form four high pupil at Elangeni High School, made the few Swazis who attended the South African Schools Eistedford finals held at the Rhema Bible Church in Randburg proud.

This year’s second day of the provincial finals was described as history, as the pupils sang until 1am.

His brilliant performance saw the judges having no choice but to present him with the overall award.
He competed with eight pupils from schools that came from the different provinces of South Africa.

He scored 79.2 marks to be the winner, while being followed by a pupil from a school called Hlalakahle Secondary School known as Lucas Sibeko.
Sibeko gave Msibi a tight competition as he came behind with only one mark.
Most of choral music followers   mentioned just after his performance that Msibi had the potential of making it into the top three.

He was the last pupil to compete in this category. The Swazi delegation led by Khonelinkhosi Dlamini, chairperson of the Swaziland Schools Choral Music Association, could not hold their joy as they screamed and danced after Msibi was announced as the overall winner.

For being the best, Msibi took home two trophies with one being his, while the other one will belong to the school.
Also competing were three other local soloists who included Buhle Kunene (soprano), Ntombifuthi Nkomo (alto) and Lwazi Dlamini (bass) who however did not impress as they all failed to make it to the top three.
