MALKERNS – Thousands of fun lovers from around the world attended the second day of the ninth edition of the MTN BUSHFURE Festival on Saturday.

Recently announced by CNN as one of the ‘7 African music festivals you have to see’, it was not surprising as a multi generational global community of over 20 000 people descended upon the beautiful farmlands in the Malkerns valley to experience the festival.

The second day (Saturday) of the festival normally trends as the main day, which has in the past been often highlighted by the selling out of pre-sale tickets.

The MTN BUSHFIRE Festival being a showpiece that attracts thousands of people boasts of a great deal of diversity in terms of entertainment, which is often defined by the different mini-stages that support the main one.

Saturday night featured great acts in the local and international industry like one of South Africa’s most treasured groups Freshlyground, Les Nubians from France, the ever impressive Banda Kakana from the neighbouring Mozambique and the Joajoby from France. Each artist or group was allocated a maximum of 50 minutes and they made sure that the entry fee was worth every cent, and the most striking highlight of the night was that each and every group that was part of the line-up had its fair share of a following, which was a good way to bury the argument of how good the MTN BUSHFRE Festival line–up was as it had been widely criticised by local fun lovers.

However, being a spectacle that brings the world together, the different artists who performed distinctively wore outfts that resembled their cultural backgrounds and of course performing songs largely in their native languages.
