MBABANE – While ACASWA hosted a prayer service for road accidents last month, more artists are falling victims.

The latest is Mabandla Mthethwa, father and manager of gospel artist Nonhle, who is lucky to be alive after a seven-seater belonging to Nonhle overturned leaving him with serious injuries.

After the accident he was rushed to the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial (RFM) Hospital in Manzini.
The accident occurred on Monday night along the Manzini-Ngwane Park public road.
Information gathered is that Mthethwa was alone when the vehicle overturned.

The vehicle is the same one that is normally used by Nonhle when attending performances.
His destination on the night could not be gathered at the time of compiling this report.
Mthethwa sustained injuries on the head and on his right knee.

Speaking in hospital, Mthethwa confirmed the accident, saying he was disturbed by a ditch that was next to the road.
“I lost control of the vehicle and it went into the ditch and then it overturned.
“In the process I was injured and was taken to hospital,” he said.

He also highlighted that in as much as he was disturbed by the ditch, the car also had some mechanical problems.
“I am lucky to be alive. The car is a write-off. Some of the people who were able to witness the accident did not think I survived.”
At the time of compiling this report, Mthethwa was in hospital and was still to see a doctor and it appeared he had to be taken for an X-ray to ascertain the damage to his head.
