NIGEL, SAKHILE CROWNED

MATSAPHA – University of Swaziland’s Social Science student Sakhile Simelane is Miss UNISWA 2015/2016.

Simelane was crowned at the pageant held on Friday night at the Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH) at Kwaluseni.

Simelane, who had many followers, scooped the crown together with Mr Fresher’s Kwaluseni Campus, Nigel Earnshaw.

Earnshaw is an LLB student. The winners were picked from 26 contestants who all had the hope that they would make it through.

The event started just after 9pm with all the contestants parading before the judges. The judges, who included former Miss Swaziland Beauty Pageant Director Thandeka Matse, South Africa based businessman Sbonelo ‘Khapadiya’ Mkhumane, Lindokuhle Mthupha, Sethabiso Ginindza and Buhlebethu Nyamane, had a difficult task of choosing the winners as all the contestants seemed prepared for the pageant.

The contest started on a high note with those who had attended enjoying every moment of the show.

Things got heated when the contestants were introduced. They were asked to dance for the audience in their casual wear.

Outfits

The participants paraded with four outfits which include formal, smart casual, casual and traditional attire.

The audience had to be patient for about five hours before knowing the fairest of them all.

When the two were announced as the winners, everyone seemed content with the judges’ choices.

Speaking briefly after the crowning, Simelane said she was excited that she had scooped the title.

"It was not easy. The competition was just too tight. Everyone seemed to be confident but I am happy that at the end I succeeded," she said.

Earnshaw said he was also happy that he scooped a title which he said was an important one.
