MBABANE – A few days after Vincent Bones was announced as the SA Idols winner and walked away with E1 million, Pacho Arts Academy is dandling E100 000 and a free recording deal for a local singer (Idol).

Pacho Arts Academy is under the directorship of July Maziya and is the same company that will be conducting art workshops in Nhlangano for 50 artists in February 2015.

partnership

They will be in partnership with Khula Arts Academy from South Africa, Richards Bay.
The showpiece is set to take place in June next year and will be searching for raw talent.

Maziya said after watching programmes in South Africa like Idols, X-Factor and SA Has Got Talent, they felt that this could be done in the country. He said this would improve lives in terms of financial empowerment.

“I won’t be specific with prizes for the top five as a whole, but what I can assure you is that the overall winner will walk away with E100 000 and a free recording deal. Only musicians that have not been to studio will be allowed to enter, which means, we are interested in fresh talent only.”

Pointed

He further pointed out that the cash was provided by a host of sponsors which he will reveal at the launch which is scheduled for May next year.
He, however, mentioned that he has informally engaged the Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture about the project.
Stanley Dlamini confirmed being informed about the project but stated that he was still waiting for the relevant documents from the organisers for input.

“We have been informed about the two projects but we will be in a position to comment in detail once we have documents on our side.”

investment

When Maziya was asked what the company expected to get in return for such an investment, he said their major objective was to see Swaziland having its own professional singers and actors that will stay in the country and empower other aspiring artists.

“Attaining the First World status is not only about the improvement of infrastructure but the empowerment of the Swazi people through art, and that is our sole objective.”

Lastly he mentioned that interested singers will be called for auditions which he assumed will last for about five months. He emphasised that the platform was only for singers not other components of art.

Way to go Juks! I wish you all the best with the project. I know the love you have about it and your ability to explore. I wish the people of this country get behind you full blast.
