MANZINI– First National Bank (FNB) Eswatini held an insightful session to help businesses navigate the new normal with tailor-made solutions, tools and products.

This transpired during the first leg of the FNB Entrepreneurs’ Grind Series featuring entrepreneurs and other key stakeholders at The George Hotel in Manzini yesterday. In his opening remarks, the bank’s Chief Financial Officer Siboniso Mdluli had preached resilience and adaptability during these challenging times.

Mdluli had recalled that in April the reputable financial institution had launched the Real Help initiative meant to cushion customers from the impact of COVID-19 and over 70 000 had benefited during the three-month relief period.

Mdluli said the relief was extended beyond the three-month period on a case by case basis and the bank further supported local businesses by procuring goods worth millions of Emalangeni locally.

Also making an address was the bank’s Executive Head Commercial Banking Nozizwe Mulela, who zoomed in on issues of access to finance, markets and institutional support. She stressed on the need for diversity in product offering to unlock new revenue streams.

Strategy

Also among the guests was Themba Dlamini, who is Senior Manager- Strategy and Organisational Performance at the Small Enterprises Development Company (SEDCO). He addressed issues of entrepreneurship in COVID-19 times. Dlamini shared the various opportunities entrepreneurs could tap into in these times and they included e-commerce, insurance, online education and tutorship, farming, home delivery and dispensers, among others.

A team from Eswatini Revenue Authority comprising Director Communications Vusi Dlamini and Senior Tax Officer Training and Education Thulile Simelane took the entrepreneurs through tax business updates that included the self-assessment tool that was introduced this year.
