The representatives of the AfDB met with the Eswatini private sector representative bodies (Business Eswatini and FESBC) this past Monday at the Business Eswatini Boardroom in which a number of critical issues underlying the performance of the economy of Eswatini were discussed.
The purpose of the visit by the AfDB delegation to Business Eswatini was primarily to get the views of the private sector on the performance of the economy and to exchange views on other matters of interest.

Business Eswatini was represented by the President, Andrew le Roux, alongside the CEO E Nathi Dlamini; Musa Maseko; and Nsindiso Thwala. On the other hand, African Development Bank’s nine executive directors were led by their spokesperson, David Stevenson.

Full Confidence

“Business confidence is now growing among the private sector,” he said while also admitting that the economy of the country was currently sluggish but expressed optimism that it would certainly recover given the consultative approach engaged by government.”

He also said the fact that His Majesty King Mswati III appointed the current crop of leaders spoke volumes about his commitment to seeing a change of the country’s fortunes.
Echoing the words of the President, Business Eswatini Executive E Nathi Dlamini alluded to the fact that the private sector umbrella body has rarely commended government in the past because there was not much to commend it about.
