MBABANE – The Eswatini Posts and Telecommunications Corporation wants a cash in transit service provider.

The body corporate, established in April 1986, has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) from interested companies to submit bids on or before August 15, 2018.
The EPTC is responsible to the Minister for Information and Communications Technology (ICT), who in turn is answerable to government for the activities of the Corporation.

The Public Enterprises - Control and Monitoring Act No. 8 of 1989 classifies the Corporation as a category A Public Enterprise, as a body wholly owned by government or in which government has a majority interest.”

The main responsibilities of EPTC are the operation, maintenance and development of postal and telecommunications services nationally.
EPTC has been operating independently since its establishment in 1983.

EPTC believes that greater value could be generated and added to its operations through the implementation of a comprehensive transformation programme.

Profitable

It was explained that restructuring of EPTC’s business operations has the potential to make the organisation sustainable and more profitable.
In 2013, Swaziland enacted two (2) pieces of legislation into Acts of Parliament. These are “The Swaziland Communications Commission Act” and “The Swaziland Electronic Communications Act.”

Recently, EPTC presented a business opportunity to renowned printing and publishing companies for the compilation, selling of advertising space and printing of the Eswatini telecommunications directory.

In specifications of the telecommunications directory it has been stipulated that the telecommunications directory will be printed once a year and the date of publication will be December of each year.

The quality of paper on which the directory will be printed on, the cover in which these are bound and general lay out should be specified and agreed upon with the corporation.
Each page should have three columns of 7.2 centimetres.
