MBABANE – The Swaziland Investment Promotions Authority (SIPA) will pay out over E35 000 on a monthly basis for provision of security.

Startlet Investment, a company from Eswatini, has managed to outsmart four companies including a South African entity for the provision of security services at the Mavuso Trade Centre and two factory shells (Buhleni and Siteki).
Competitors in the tender where SIPA could pay out E35 550 per month to Startlet were; VIP Protection Services, Top Two Security, Reaction Force and Unbeatable Security.

An analysis of the tender results signed off by Chairperson to the SIPA Tender Board Management Committee Hanalora Strydom reflected that Startlet, who amassed 78 per cent during evaluation, emerged victorious with a margin of only four per cent.

The company was closely followed by VIP Protection and Top Two Security who tied at 74 per cent.
Reaction Force managed to score 72 per cent at evaluation while South African company Unbeatable Security scored the lowest points with an overall score of 52 per cent.

Pricing

In terms of pricing, Startlet was the second lowest while VIP Protection had the highest bid of E47 652.
SIPA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Phumelele Dlamini explained that they were grateful for the support received from the Swaziland Public Procurement Regulatory Agency (SPPRA), who published the results of the tender undertaken in accordance with the Public Procurement Act of 2011.

Procurement

She highlighted that procurement processes had always been in existence but what was lacking had been transparency from government and parastatals to ensure that all tenderers did not have qualms with evaluation processes and why a certain company got awarded a certain tender.
“We commend SPPRA who have taken it upon themselves to work hard towards ensuring that government and parastatals to adhere to the set standards of procurement,” said Dlamini.
