MBABANE – Heptagon Company (Pty) Ltd stands to be granted a E2.7 million tender to improve the road network in Siteki.

Siteki Town Council’s Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Collen Dlamini confirmed that the contract was signed with Heptagon Company last week Tuesday, as earlier disclosed by substantive CEO Sithembile Simelane, that the multi-million Emalangeni tender would be awarded under the Swaziland Local Government Project (SGLP).

Simelane had explained that the final bid price for the upgrading of Msilima Road (160 metres), Bellmouth Intersection for Ngwenya and Parkway Roads (20m) and Mnyamati Road (180m) was E2 706 918.21. “We have officially signed a contract with Heptagon and they are expected to start construction works on May 25, 2018,” said Dlamini yesterday.

Heptagon outsmarted Camdel Construction, Roots Civils and Stefanutti Stocks to emerge as the best evaluated tenderer. The contract will be for four months.  Heptagon also recently outsmarted five other companies in the race for construction of Kunene and Lubane roads, at the fast-developing town of Ezulwini.

Competitors were Roots Construction, Du Van Developers, Stefanutti Stocks and A.G Thomas. Kukhanya Civils and Mbhilibhi (Pty) Ltd did not make the cut due to different reasons.  Kukhanya Civils was eliminated because they submitted a bid security, which was not in accordance with the bid requirements.

Meanwhile, Mbhilibhi (Pty) Ltd did make it because they did not attach a valid labour compliance certificate.
At bid price opening, Heptagon Company had submitted E3 946 212. 60 but this sum was reduced to E3 605 939.70 after evaluation. Heptagon was also granted a E3.8 million tender for construction of Ngwenya Town Board’s roads and drainage systems. The exact value of the final bid price stood at E3 891 455. 83.
