MBABANE – The Construction Industry Council (CIC) will finally heed to the massive outcry by businesses and individuals by reducing the steep registration and renewal fees next year.

This undertaking was made by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nhlanhla Dlamini who conceded that the registration fees and renewal fees, which cost up to E30 000 in some categories, were indeed high.
The fees were stipulated to create a source of revenue to finance establishment and operations of the council.

Precisely

Dlamini explained that the reduction would be in line with the pledge made when the fees were initially introduced, where it had been precisely mentioned that there would a reduction soon after the council was fully established and operational.
The fees apply to the tender value ranges for each eligible category per construction firm.

Construction firms registering for the first time pay a registration fee and a subscription fee including administration fees.
Registered construction firms pay an annual subscription fee yearly including the administration fees.

Specialist works pay an administration fee of E450, including an initial registration fee of E2 000 and an annual subscription fee of E2 000 with the exception of tree felling specialist works which shall pay E1 000 for registration and E1 000 annual renewal including the administration fee of E450.

Required

Foreign specialists will be required to pay double the amount of administration, registration and annual subscription.
“The registration and renewal fees will definitely be reduced next year. However, I may not be in a position to disclose how much the fees will be reduced to subject to approval of the board and Minister (Public Works and Transport). However, I can confirm that they will be reduced,” said Dlamini.
