Mtsandzi.com' must respect customs
This response is directed to the letter by Mtsandzi.com entitled ‘Why the confusion over fired teachers?’ saying teachers had been warned. Mtsandzi.com has to respect the customs of Swazis in the first place.
The people eSibayeni were there to voice their stories, grievances, relevant ideas etc., to their King. It was the King’s right to consider and give advice and issue the final word on issues raised, as dictated by our culture.
The teachers’ ‘no retreat’ statement was reversed by respect of the King’s pronouncement on that grievance or issue. Putting their grievance to their King is not in any way singing a different tune. This is kwembula ingubo eNkhosini. That there are ‘teachers’ and ‘fired teachers’, never came up at Ludzidzini. It was only teachers mentioned and these are all teachers. If you listened to the King’s speech carefully, he addressed the teachers’ issue. No blue or yellow teachers did he ever mention. In short there were no distinctions of teachers referred to by His Majesty.
Sive sembula ingubo kulendzaba yabothishela. Which, then, is the issue boMtsandzi.com and the others are still discussing. Is it a matter of not knowing the siSwati culture or a pompous disrespect of our King?
If any court in the land takes a decision against a citizen, that decision can always be over-ruled by the King. Where is the begging referred to by Mtsandzi when the Lion has roared? Please may we act as true Swazis because Swazis show respect where it is due. Mtsandzi.com, learn to respect the King and his nation, please. Stop interpreting speeches which need no interpretation, especially when we do not understand certain aspects of the culture.
Long live to the teachers, continue respecting your traditions.
