Draughts man with pending drink-driving charge nabbed
MBABANE – A Swaziland Railway draughtsman who has a pending drink-driving case has been arrested again.
Johannes Serewu appeared before Magistrate Siphosini Dlamini and it was shortly after he entered the accused dock that Prosecutor Philisiwe Simelane applied that he be remanded back into custody.
This, the Prosecutor said was because the Crown intended to consolidate Serewu’s charges.
When he was first arrested Serewu pleaded not guilty to the charge of drink-driving as he alleged that he was arrested on a private road on his sister’s farm.
During his court appearance yesterday he pleaded guilty to contravening the Road Traffic Act.
It was after the prosecutor had applied that he be remanded back into custody that he asked to be admitted to bail pending consolidation of his charges.
Magistrate Dlamini granted him bail fixed at E1 500, but warned him to avail himself in court whenever ordered to do so.
He was also ordered not to interfere with any of the Crown witnesses especially the investigating officer.
Serewu conducted his own defence.
