Ntuthuko agrees to pay E6 000 maintenance
MBABANE – The Minister of Public Works and Transport, Ntuthuko Dlamini has agreed to pay the E6 000 monthly maintenance for his two children born out of wedlock.
Dlamini’s former girlfriend, Phiwayinhlanhla Madida, had applied for a variation of the maintenance that the minister pays from E250 a month to E6 000. Her lawyer, Mbuso Simelane, yesterday told the court that they were still to meet with the minister’s attorneys to conclude the terms of payment.
The matter was before Mbabane Magistrate Phathaphatha Mdluli and was postponed to next week Wednesday.
The matter is now under settlement which, on Wednesday, will be made an order of the court.
Madida also wanted a garnishee order to be issued against Dlamini because he had repeatedly defaulted on the monthly maintenance payments.
The minister is represented by lawyers from Howe, Masuku, Sibandze Attorneys who did not file opposing papers
In 2006, Madida took the minister to court demanding that he pay E250 towards the maintenance of his children.
The minister did not oppose the application and an order forcing him to pay was issued. He was not a minister at the time, as he was only elected into office in 2008.
On October 6, 2011, the Mbabane Magistrates Court issued a warrant of execution against the minister’s property for failing to contribute towards the upkeep of his children.
He was in arrears of E15 000, based on the number of months he had failed to pay the maintenance from 2006.
The minister later publicly declared that he would not pay maintenance for his child-ren.
He later changed his mind and made an undertaking to pay the E15 000 that he owed in arrears for the E250 monthly maintenance that he had been refusing to pay since November 2006, when the case first went to court.
COMMENTS:
It serves him right, how were the children going to grow up without being maintained.

- When will men ever learn that its cheaper to live with their families/children than to maintain them from a distance? Anyway, some people never learn from mistakes of others, they believe in hands-on experience. That's the price of opting for the easy way out.
