Border team needs serious national prayer - Fonono

MBABANE – Brigadier Fonono Dvuba, a member of the Border Restoration Committee, (BRC) strongly believes they are in dire need of a serious national prayer.

In an interview yesterday, the 85-year old Dvuba said it was crystal clear to all and sundry that currently a dark spell was hovering over the committee.

He said the death of Prince Khuzulwandle, the Chairman of the committee including three other members in a short period of time, was enough confirmation that someone had cast a dark spell on the committee.

"I cannot be faulted for harbouring the thought that someone wicked has cursed libandla (council)," he said. "We need a serious national prayer to cleanse the committee of the bad omen."

Dvuba, the retired Commander of the Umbutfo Swaziland Defence Force (USDF), suggested that the prayer be held in the commitee’s boardroom.

The BRC is housed at the Nkhanini National Offices in Lobamba.

He stressed that the continuous demise of the members was nothing else, but a bad omen (yibhadi yetfu lena). Dvuba said it was seldom for the other councils (emabandla) to lose some of their members through death at the rate that it was happening with the Border Restoration Committee.

Prince Khuzulwandle, 70, died while undergoing treatment in a private clinic in South Africa on Tuesday morning.

Sandlane Zwane, an erstwhile member of the committee, concurred with Dvuba that the libandla was in need of a prayer.

Zwane said the deaths in the committee were a serious cause for concern that could only be addressed through prayer. "I got fired from the committee for running while trying to save my life," he alleged. "It’s extremely difficult to work in that committee."

His Majesty King Mswati III sacked Zwane from the committee towards the end of last year.

Actually, we dont need this committee. What is its mandate and what has the committee achieved? What we should be praying for is for the committee to be disbanded. May their souls rest in peace.

We don't need a prayer for the border team. We need to remove it all together because its useless! Its milking the country dry financially. Well, on second thought, may be the only prayer we need to is to thank God that nature is removing them on our behalf! Praise be to God for that! surely he's a wonderful God. Can I hear an amen! Somebody shout an amen!
