E4 000 fine for bush buck carcass
MANZINI- A man who was found with a bush buck carcass was sentenced to one year imprisonment with an option of a E4 000 fine.
Fali Joseph Dlamini (48) a driver at Nkonyeni Farm appeared before Principal Magistrate David Khumalo yesterday charged for contravening the Game Act.
He apologised for committing the offence. The principal magistrate told him that by committing such a serious offence he had already lost his job at the farm. "Unfortunately the court will also not suspend any portion of the sentence. Due to your situation it was supposed to give you a suspended sentence. You have been convicted of a serious offence and losing your job has also served as a punishment on its own," the Khumalo said.
Dlamini pleaded for leniency and told the court he had eight children and a wife who all depended on him.
When asked what he was going to do with the carcass, Dlamini said he was planning on eating it.
He is said to have committed the offence on July 20 , 2012 at the farm where he was found in possession of the bush buck carcass, a specially protected game.
