MBABANE - Students of the University of Swaziland are invited to a mass meeting tomorrow.

The meeting, according to UNISWA Students Representative Council (SRC) Chairperson, Sibusiso Dlamini, will be held at the Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) Centre at 10am.

He urged all students to attend this meeting without fail as they would be discussing issues that touch on their welfare.

"We would also like to invite all students who had been admitted to enrol in any of the University of Swaziland campuses in the next academic year to attend this meeting without fail," Dlamini said.

He said during the meeting they will also take a resolution on how they could engage government on a number of pending issues.

Dlamini said some of the issues that would be discussed during the meeting was the decision by government to cut the number of students, as they have been informed that only 500 students will be taken for enrolment even during the next academic year.

Dlamini said they would also deliberate on a decision by government to cut students’ allowances by 50 per cent.

"The reason we have decided to call this meeting at this time is because we do not want to encounter a situation where our lessons will be disturbed when we open. Our intention is to make sure that for any resolution we will take on how to deal with the issues, we take it earlier," he said.

Do you think the government is actively taking steps to silence its critics by refusing certain people access to the national broadcasters?
