We'll close down all hospitals - nurses
MBABANE - Nurses have threatened that they will soon close down all hospitals in the country.
This was disclosed by President of the Swaziland Democratic Nurses Union (SWADNU) Bheki Mamba when addressing members of The National Public Service and Allied Workers Union (NAPSAWU) who had gathered to deliver a petition at the ministry of Public Service.
He said they also want a 4.5 per cent salary increment from government, Circular No.1 of 2010 removed, as well as Tibiyo to be ‘returned to the people’.
Mamba told the workers that they would boycott the forthcoming elections and would also not allow their children to attend the Umhlanga ceremony.
"Due to the obtaining situation we will engage another gear, hospitals will close," he said.
... from ‘waya waya’ to ‘wanya wanya’
MBABANE – Members of NAPSAWU have named their protest action which continues even today ‘Wanya Wanya’.
They will today join teachers who will be continuing with their ‘Waya Waya’ protest action in Manzini.
President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers Sibongile Mazibuko, when addressing the workers yesterday, said they were impressed by their turnout.
She urged the civil servants to join teachers today as they would now jointly fight for what they claim is due to them.
Mazibuko told the members not to be deterred by the harassment they were subjected to by the police but fight for what is theirs.
Cops watch in disbelief as women relieve themselves
MBABANE – Police officers yesterday watched in disbelief as two women undressed and urinated in front of them.
Siphiwe Dlamini, who is employed by the Fire and Emergency Services Department, and Sibongile Dlamini who works for Hlatikhulu government hospital said they decided to respond to the call of nature in front of the police after they refused them permission to go to toilets.
The contingent of officers watched in dismay as the women proceeded to relive themselves.
They both claimed that they were pressed.
