MBABANE – Teachers at Deccapol Primary School and some residents had to spend a whole night with the corpse of Ntokozo Maseko.

This was revealed in court during the trial of murder suspect Zwelithini Tsabedze.

Tsabedze alleged that the incident leading to Maseko’s death happened at around 10pm on October 26, 2011 at Ndunazithini. He claimed that he informed the school’s nightwatchman Mandla Mavuso, a resident Philemon Ngcamphalala and his colleagues at the school who proceeded to the scene.

He alleged he had asked Ngcamphalala to ferry Maseko to hospital but upon arrival, he suggested otherwise saying doing so would amount to tampering with evidence and the circumstances required that such be done by the police.

He said after sometime, the police arrived as well as the Principal Daniel Simelane. He claimed that Ngcamphalala’s vehicle provided light to view Maseko’s lifeless body which lay on the ground.

He claimed that police arrived at the scene and took statements as well as conducted investigations.

He claimed that in the meantime, he would be called by the police who asked him to explain what had really happened.

He said, the incident had happened while he was in the company of his girlfriend Phatsisiwe Ngcamphalala, who was during the night in his flat. He said he asked some teachers to accompany him to help his lover out of his house to go back home since she was afraid her father Philemon might discover that she had sneaked out to see him.

"We remained at the scene until the morning when the police began taking pictures. I was arrested on October 28, 2011," he said.
