MANZINI – A government car was found burnt on the premises of the Manzini inter ministerial government offices yesterday.

A Nissan registered SG 102 NR, was burnt while parked at the secured government offices parking area.

Manzini Regional Administrator (RA) Prince Masitsela said the cause of the fire is not known, but investigations were being carried out by the police.

The RA said he was very shocked to find that that car had been burnt. A Toyota Quantum, which was parked next to the burnt vehicle had parts of its body burnt too.

"I asked my secretary if the security guard was around and I was told he was but was also clueless as to what might have burnt the car," said the RA.

He said they informed him that the car had been parked there since Friday, so they are unaware of what might have happened.

The prince said the police would investigate the incident.

The Manzini Regional Secretary, Thamsanqa Mpanza, said they do not know what happened the previous night as the vehicle was only discovered yesterday morning when the offices opened for business.

Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent Stephen Dlamini, confirmed that the car was reported to have been burnt at the Manzini inter-ministerial government offices yesterday.

"We are still investigating the matter to find out what could have been the cause of such an occurrence. At the moment we are still not clear, but we hope to find out more during our investigation," he said.
