MBABANE – Local Christian Rock Band Outcry had the privilege to perform at the Uplands Music Festival in Nelspruit.

The music festival was held in Casterbridge Music Development Academy from May 25-27, 2012. This is one of the biggest music festivals in the Lowveld and this year it saw more than 10 000 people in attendance.

One of the group members Ryan Mandy said the band gave an electrifying, energetic performance with songs from their latest album ‘New Generation’ which was launched on April 13, 2012 at the Healing Place Church in Mbabane.

"In our performance we were joined by local rappers Izie and V, who collaborated in their grand finale of their hit song ‘I’m Blessed’. We were the first band to play on the first day of the festival and we set the standard high" he said.

He said their performance was followed by a loud applause in appreciation of their good performance. He said they played alongside other Lowveld artists and flew the Swazi flag high.

The band, which was established in 2008, became popular after it was nominated for the Discovery of the Year award at the Africa Gospel Music Awards in London last year.

They were presented with an AGMA special award for their contribution to gospel music and the impact they make through their outreach programme to the youth.

Members of the group are Ryan, Chelsea and Shannon Mandy, Maswazi and Kundi Khalelemba, Velicia Malinga, Easter Dlamini and Matongo Pasi. The band is currently sitting at number four at the Open Mic Series competition on Mpower FM .

: Traditional healers
Do you agree with the suggestion by Senator Moi Moi Masilela that traditional healers (tinyanga) should be regulated like medical doctors?
