MALKERNS – House on Fire’s Jiggs Thorne said they were currently working with all heads of the MTN Bushfire departments on a post-mortem of the whole event.

He said the purpose was to address all issues that arose in the course of the three-day event so as to formalise better strategies for the 2013 Bushfire Festival which is set for May 31 to June 2. "We are also sending questionnaires to all our partners and sponsors to get their feedback on festival deliverables," said Thorne.

What was a bit of a setback during this annual event happened on Saturday when fun lovers could not make use of their mobile phones as the network service was unavailable. One could neither receive or make calls, nor send a text message. This turned out to be a huge concern more so because MTN was this year’s title sponsor something which many thought would mean appropriate measures would have be put in place to avoid network congestion or technical errors.

Even though figures are said to be still under process, the event’s Suzan Crane said their estimations suggest that close to 20 000 fun lovers attended this year’s festival.
